podunk... I mean Wabash, IN
DH made the call to the vets today, I just couldn't. We made the decision to have our sweet Sheltie, Shelby Lynn, put down. Just a few more hours.

She was diagnosed with CRF a month or so ago and no matter what we have done to help her feel better and keep her w/us for awhile longer.... it's been a down hill battle. This last weekend she took a turn for the worse but still had her good & happy moments. Her bark changed, even DH noticed, and for last two days we knew. She no longer is eating anything and I've struggled to get any kinds of liquids in her. I do believe her kidneys have pretty much shut down now. She's ready to go though I am soooooooooooooooooooooo sad to let her go.

My poor baby girl. I love her.

I am so sorry and I do sympathise. We had to put one of our dogs down a couple of months ago.

You need to remember that euthanizing a pet is the last act of kindness an owner can perform, and that you are doing the right thing. It is so hard for us to let go of a loving companion, but it is an act of love to be able to do so when the time comes. Make sure to hold her and stroke her and tell her how much you love her as she passes.

I'm so sorry. Just know that this is the last gift you can give her. Keeping her here longer for your benefit would be cruel to her. You are doing a very nice thing for her.

I'm so very sorry. It's extra hard (for me, anyway) during those hours before seeing the vet. I just try to love on the pet (fighting tears, so they don't get upset) and savor every moment. Have you picked a burial spot and some pretty shrub/plant for the spot? That always helps me. Take care

I am so sorry. I had to do it with my beloved Charlie Girl last year. I know it was a kindness to her, but it still hurts.

Thank you all. It doesn't help that it's so loud and crazy here today. We are having our house reroofed. Shelby was a trooper and stayed close to me all day though in reality she has been "clingy" for the last few. Such a sweetie. There is a hole here now. In Shelby's memory:
