Oooh, that egg looks promising! I hope it’s a mini- Bella!Previously I mentioned the last eggs Bella left behind, how one was small, white, and the yolk seemed the size of a marble.View attachment 2786831
It's been incubating for 2 wks today.
The other 2 are viable as well. This one just fascinates me by how clear it is.Oooh, that egg looks promising! I hope it’s a mini- Bella!![]()
How adorable!!!
This went well. I've walked and talked to her every day & today saw keets. Luckily I had company, so I picked her up, my guest rounded the keets up in a box & everyone was moved to the coop. She's done well in the garden, but I figured trying to keep 20+ squirmies inplace and warm tonight might be a challenge. I counted fast, but I think there were 22. 4 were dead, 3 hatched,1 1/2 way out of shell. I think she may have stepped on them? How adorable!!!Congratulations to you and to Rosie who knew just what to do!!!

If they are under her, they will not need supplemental heat.I shut the fan off in coop and it's stuffy in there now, but it's to get to 63° tonight. Will they be ok under her?
Wow! She is one tame girl to trust you to move her and keets! That’s a lot of keets for one hen to cover - do they all fit under or on her? Maybe another bird (cock or hen) will step in to co-parent?This went well. I've walked and talked to her every day & today saw keets. Anyway, she was a good girl, let me pick her up and carry her, settled into coop w/them and content to be petted and oohed and ahhed at. Think she's rather proud of herself! She's booted the boys to the run for the night, though.

She is very patient with them and me. I still haven't got an accurate head count; they move around too much. She doesn't fret over me picking them up, but I haven't got down on my hands and knees in there. I just pick up wanderers and tuck them back under her.Wow!
