Yes, my roosters do that same thing. The younger gals ALWAYS fall for it. The seasoned hens pay him no mind, most of the time. Sometimes Carl - dominant roo - will fake 'em out with a pretty leaf or little rock or twig.

He also tries to woo ME with pretty leaves.

Don't I wish! Mine does similar things all the time. They will come up with ANYTHING to get some!

My rooster Reggie is usually really good at only calling hens to food or to "treasures" (like little shiny pieces of glass, plastic, etc.). But I've noticed that on rare days when he courts six or seven or more different hens and none of them submit to him, then he'll stoop to doing just that, LOL.
