Hey everyone,

I've been a member for a few months, but only read around a bit. A lot of great info to be found! So, I thought I'd like to get in on some of the forums and break the ice. ...get in on some discussions of interest to me. I live in Texas and have been active duty USMC for past 21 years (no time for chickens in the trenches...

But, that's all over. I'm working on 81 of our babies. Love them all. They each are a separate personality. Even my boring white leghorns. Anyway I've got RIR, NHR, Wht Lghrn, Domnik, bantam chochin, bantam chochin frizzle, silver lghrn, buff brahma, and a mix or two. Eggs coming out my ears n I was wondering if I sell these fine brown specimens, will I get into any legal issues? FDA or such... Is there a magic number before you get audited by the guys in white coats? Thanks for the help and I hope to learn a ton from you all!

Tweeter is my hand raised spoiled brat! Momma swaddled him in a wash cloth and slept with him as a peep. He's still liven in the house!

Oh, I had chickens as a child, but recently I started afresh in Sept 08. I started with 4 NHR and 4 Domnik hens, 21 white leghorns (dogs took care of three for me

and acquired a train load of mixed cochins and frizzles. Now I got RIR, Blk Star and Naked Necks coming from the hatchery. Getting the lawn fertilized daily, i'd say... That's a plus!

Hi, nice to meet you. Very pretty baby you have there. I am pretty sure you can sell the eggs with no problem. I don't know the laws in Texas but we just put a sign at the end of the road saying Fresh eggs and the price. Good luck.

Yep, I've got a friend that does the same as you. But, they're living pretty remote. I live out in the country, but not as far out as they. I'm not worried too much, just want to hear it from someone else. It's not possible for my family to consume these all and I'm talking brothers, sisters, ma n pa, nieces, nephews, etc... They're egged out! Thanks!

Welcome to BYC.........21 years in the USMC...wow!....and I think your addicted to chickens .......they do each have their own personality...Sorry cannot help you with the egg selling question...good luck...

Thanks! It's nice to have time for chickens now. I thought it would be kind of comical, but it's really quite consuming. You find yourself writing about your chickens on BYC at 1AM.

That's crazy! Isn't it?

Wait until your in home Depot and you spot someone wearing a BYC hoodie and you start jumping for joy..and talking to a person that you really don't know like you have known them for years !!!..true story....my family cannot help me now...ha ha ha !!!......

Yes, you're right? I'm sure there are perfectly sane people chatting at acceptable hours from all over the world. When I'm up at 1AM or later... It's funny how you can strike up a conversation about your chickens and afterward think, "they thought I was crazy!".

Or were they? Maybe both...
