Here is me testing out the highlight pen. On a horse, human, chicken, lion, owl, and dog eye.
You’ve done a great job! I’m going to start my next sketch soon. I’ll let you know how it goes. I realized In the last sketch that my chicken’s head was too ā€œroundā€. In other words, the circle that I drew for the chickens head is too visible. I will fix that in my Next sketch (hopefully)

I just finished these two. Second one is actually in the trash can right now though.
I forgot to say that I did it with an HB pencil to try and put myself in your shoes! Here is the same sketch after I added some details and highlights with a 4B and Gelly roll white pen. First picture is before the update and second picture is after the details.

It turned out amazing! Here’s my sketch that I just finished. I think it’s a bit better’s than yesterdays. I messed up on the sides, because my pencil wasn’t sharpened enough (I think that’s why)

What kind of paper do you use?

Is that your signature? Do you have a signature?

for now, I’m using this little booklet, the paper feels a little hard, like cardboard paper. It’s around 5x3 inches. And yeah, I haven’t really decided on an official signature, so I’m just going with that for now(I know it looks kind of weird, but they’re my initials)

Oh okay. Normal paper will definitely be easier (at least for me)

@cherrynberry Do you use a fixative after your sketch is done to prevent smearing or smudging?
No I do not. After each sketch, I just clean it up a little and thats it. And I hang my art up on my curtain pole 🤣

I think normal paper would work better, but the only normal paper I have is normal sized paper.
Thats fine. Although index cards are super cheap! They are my go-to.

I have used normal printer paper before, but I do like to fold them in half and in half again before drawing on them. Thicker paper is easier to draw on, for me. I am planning to get a sketchbook with thicker paper in the future.
