i set 1 double (my first time) and at early candling only appeared to be 1 viable embryo, but now @ lockdown embryo seems really large compared to normal eggs, it has me wondering if I missed something!! any thoughts??
Is the egg larger than the others? Mine is, I can't believe I didn't notice it when I set it, lol. It could be that the one embryo looks bigger because it has more room to spread out.
Disclaimer: this is my first time to set a double yolker, so I am just guessing, not speaking from experience, lol.

Well day 7 candle shows the same 11/18 developing so I'm happy. :) There is one I need to take a picture of because when I candle I see veins and movement...but only on one side of the egg. If I look in from the other side it looks like a clear. Strangest thing I've seen when candling. Anyone else ever see such a thing?
They start out like that, but grow to fill the egg shell.

yes it is very large. I knew it was a double when I set it and from reading other posts here regarding doubles, I honestly never expected it to make it this far! I’ve always gotten excellent hatch rates on chickens (and unfortunately high male:female ratio) but this is a lot of firsts....first experience with double, first homegrown hatch, first time hatching chicks and quail together, and first time leaving staggered hatch eggs in during lockdown!
It is definitely a huge learning experience for me!! I will post updates! today starts lockdown!!

Have 21 Bantam eggs in. Out if the 21, only maybe 8 are viable. :hit Very disappointed. This is first candling, but only a few show signs of development. I got these eggs off a person in Ky, and honestly, will not be buying from them again. :mad:I have Silver Duckwing, Blue Cochin, and Ameracauna. None of but maybe one Blue shows development. Several of the DW do, and a couple Ameracaunas. :clap
I have 14 out of the original 25 I started with Ancona Duck eggs in two different incubators because I originally had them all in a NR360, but they were not all turning properly. :he Last night I candled and two had quit halfway. :hitHoping the rest make it because Im hatching them for someone else. :jumpy

Were the Bantam eggs shipped? My best hatch of shipped eggs ever was Bantams. I thought it was maybe because they are so much smaller and the shipping didn't affect them like larger chicken eggs. They shipped pretty far.
