Do bantam eggs hatch early? I have never hatch any before now. A few of the eggs I have for the Easter hatch a long are from my neighbor who has some bantams. I have a few really small eggs so I'm just really guessing they are from her bantams. Should I stop turning them early or what? I have read they can hatch day 19.

Mine did. I still did lockdown on day 18 and they hatched the next day.

I have two AC/CCL earlybird eggs, due to hatch tomorrow, and one came out early! Can't wait to see her fluffed out... hen was AC and father CCL, so does that mean all the chicks will have white spots on their heads?

Did my first candling on the chickens tonight. I’m happy to see that the majority are developing. Did have a few quitters and some cracked. Seems I forgot to candle beforehand. I also candled the duck eggs I put in on the 30th and duck fertility has improved.

I’ve been trying to entice one of my WH into going broody, they have before but I didn’t have drakes, so I’ve been leaving their eggs in the nest box. I was successful, sort of. One of my Ameraucanas went broody instead. Funny to see a little hen trying to sit on a big nest of duck eggs. I’m going to let her sit on a few and then give her some of the Easter chicks. Any of the duck eggs that actually develope will be put in the incubator. I know she’ll take the chicks, as she’s done it a few times before.

I candled yesterday. Unfortunately, both of the eggs were infertile, so I'm out. That's the trouble with trying to hatch this early in the year.

Thanks. I try to make the EHAL every year. The LF are usually fertile by now, but this year I'm only hatching bantams, which have a narrower laying season.

Can I add 2 hummingbird eggs to my total eggs set? Their mama is broody
This nest is on a mobile I have hanging on my front porch. Not sure how long the nest has been there but we'll be keeping our eyes on it to see if we can catch babies for pics.
