Does anyone else ever feel bad for the first chick hatched? Poor little thing is all alone and chirping away. Doesn't understand that I can't open the bator to snuggle with it. :hit Hope one of the others hatches soon.
Yes! I had an early one last night. Two others pipped last night but haven’t made any progress. Three mire pipped this morning. I wish the 5 peppers would hurry up!

So out of the 23 banty eggs I put in the incubator, only 7 made it to lockdown. The others werent fertile. Im very disappointed since the Ameracauna eggs werent fertile at all. Only one Blue Cochin was fertile out of 8, and the rest were Silver Duckwing. All seven hatched. I also have 9 Ancona Ducklings to hatch. Out of the 22 that started, only 14 made it to lockdown. 9 hatched. One piped but never made it out. I think it died after that. I wish I knew why that happens.

Am I the only one slightly pissed off at my chicks that they are being perfectly normal and waiting til day 21 to hatch? Seeing all these day 19 chicks is making me want mine to hatch:barnie

The first time I hatched Marans they were all pokey-pokey chicks. The last chick of that batch hatched late on Day 23. BUT since bumping the incubator up a skootch I'm getting some Day 20 and -- Yay! -- mostly Day 21 hatchings. (Incubator at 100.1; hatcher at 100.) Very rarely are there holdovers to Day 22.
