I’ve got Legbars, Opal Legbars, Ameraucanas, and blue and splash marans in the brooder!!! Really never thought the Ameracauna would hatch. Only set 2 of them the other three I ordered were broken and these had horrid air cells. They also lost over 20% of their weight. Well here they are!!!

Some had to be pulled early due to those collapsing walls but they’re doing WONDERFUL in the brooder. I went ahead and added a heat lamp and the plate since they had to come out early some want to rest wherever they can. Once they find the heat plate I’ll move them to the bigger brooders.

Yes! I could tell by looking at the picture. There was too much red at the inside of the shell.

Nice job!

Each hatch I’m learning a bit more :). To be honest this was one that I probably shouldn’t have touched but it was hard to tell. It started zipping but then no progress, and it was zipping the wrong direction. Usually that means there’s a problem. I’m thinking that the other chicks playing bowling ball started the process too early. Maybe it really wanted to join it’s buddies when it heard all the cheeps.

Nice hatch! Their marbles look like m&ms :)

Mine were set on the 30th, too, between noon and 12:30. I have one pip tonight, but it's just a crack, not a full hole, yet.
I have thirteen eggs in my 'bator - and came downstairs to ten eggs and THREE BABIES! I see more pips, so we are by no means done (hopefully!) ... but HOORAY FOR HATCH DAY!!!

EDIT: 11:51:
Three new - critically endangered - Nankin Bantams!

Nice!

We always have at least one covey of wild quail hatch each year on our 160. A few years ago the boys saw two hens with 25 littles walk across a cow trail.
The quail most have are Japanese quail. They are not wild and the literature says that they do not go broody.

It is very cute to see Valley Quail here with there babies!
