Looked at her birds not certain i like the breeding away from the original Croad Langshan black breed

I can understand that. Although, they were both recognized around the same time, weren’t they? So both varieties are over 100 years old so I don’t think it’s really too far from the original but idk. But blue wasn’t recognized until much later so I think blue and splash and all that probably shouldn’t be bred. But white is a pretty old variety. Tons of breeds have lots of color varieties too. So I think as long as they are still breeding for the correct type and size and stuff and breeding to the standard it’s okay but I also like variety in my flock.

And this is what their site says:

The Black Langshan chicken was first recognized as a standard breed by the American Poultry Association (APA) in 1883. White Langshan “sports” were first produced from Black Langshan flocks in England in 1885 – these were recognized as a variety of Langshan by the APA in 1893. Blue “sports” occurred occasionally from crosses of the White and the Black Langshans. Blue Langshans were not recognized by the APA until 1987. Croad Langshans have been (and are still) used to create some other excellent breeds (Australorp, Orpington, Marans…) So it is very important to keep this breed alive and thriving.

Hey guys, I think I'm going to drop out of this HAL. We have a lot happening here (new houses got moved to the property this week and we need to get them set up and move, among other things) and I don't even have my breeding pens set up yet. So any chicks I do hatch won't go towards my breeding programs, which is the only point of hatching this year for me.
