Hey guys, I think I'm going to drop out of this HAL. We have a lot happening here (new houses got moved to the property this week and we need to get them set up and move, among other things) and I don't even have my breeding pens set up yet. So any chicks I do hatch won't go towards my breeding programs, which is the only point of hatching this year for me.
Best wishes for all the things life is giving you now!

I'm finding conflicting information. Are Langshans and Croad Langshans the same breed? I saw the other day that Croad Langshans aren't available in the US, but then someone posted a link to a breeder...in the U.S. Are they the same thing just with 2 different names, or are they different and people are being confused or... To me they physically look the same.

Found this on the Livestock Conservancy website:

In 1872, even as the enthusiasm for the wonderful, large, feather legged Cochins and Brahmas had crested, a third such chicken breed quietly departed China for England. Named “Langshan” after district around the Yangtszekiang River from which they came – about 100 miles from Shanghai – Major A.C. Croad of England was the first to import this unique breed.

So maybe it's a specific strain of Langshan?

I hope you have a good silky hatch!

It is all a bit confusing I believe it all started from the black birds from china
I did locate these folks in Ok appears to not change the breed I am more inclined to but
seems really the Croad was added as he was the first one to import them to Englund
no other reason some of dropped his name
