The 10th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!!

It’s the very first post. Sally sunshine has linked to all the important information of tons of different posts and articles.

Did you take a look at the air cells yet, how do they look?

For my cases after going through all of the info, this is what I did in this hatch...

MOST of mine settled to where I would have been happy having them on their side after 2 days of resting and turning before incubation, and then 3 days of upright NO turning or touching in the incubator in egg cartons (not paper) with the bottoms cut out. My incubator trays are upright, however, and I think is preferred for shipped eggs.

I have (almost certainly) decided to hatch on their side.

Find the user @aart profile and find posts on the incuview I’m pretty sure that is what she uses and is super helpful, and a “guru” user that comes to mind with the incuview.. although I don’t know how much she deals with shipped eggs. I’m just starting to pay attention to incubation posts, sorry if I’m wrong on that.
I haven't looked at the aircells yet. I should have last night. but.... I will tonight for sure...
Great advice:wee
I just cut the bottoms out of a foam egg carton and put a similar size egg in, it fit's in the bator away from the fan.. so I will do that.
I'll msg Aart and see if she has done shipped eggs in hers, she has done lots of improvements with her incuview.

I had to take my BCM cockerel and 3 younger boys to auction. An unhappy neighbor (she is unhappy in general, and stirs up trouble for the rest of us even though I have never met her) started asking around about "who has the rooster? He's waking me up in the mornings." There are 3 neighbors in between her and I, and the neighbor right next to me has said that they didn't hear the boys unless they were already awake.
I prefer to avoid drama, so I took all of the boys to auction the very next day (March 23rd). Fortunately, many of the eggs I collected from then until the EHAL set date were still fertile.
Good news is, now I know where the auction is and how simple it was (we took the boys, transferred them to auction cages, and left, I received a check in the mail 5 days later, in the self-addressed, stamped envelope I gave them to use). So any boys that hatch on Easter will be going to auction ASAP upon identifying them.
Perfect Plan!

Well this little chick was ready for the world. From pip to zip to out in 30 minutes

Yes it keeps the later hatching chicks from being used as bowling pins. I put them in a new egg carton with the bottoms cut out of carton for air flow. Usually lockdown in my styrofoam incubator rather than the Brinsea.

So, cut out the bottoms of the egg cups, does it matter whether they are Styrofoam or paper?

I'm on day 19 with one chick hatched. When should I take the chick out. I don't think leaving it to kick the other eggs around is a good idea with me being on day 19. I know leave it to dry, I really don't want to open the incubator because I'm having a hard time keeping my humidity up.
You can take the chick out any time after it is dry to about a day after hatch. It is best to remove them when you do not see a pip. Be fast but careful and do not leave the lid off long

I’m about to make a post I hate.... cause I have zero reference. I did a quick search on the main thread and can’t find it but I feel like it’s in a spot somewhere about shipped eggs.

Anyway, I read in one of Sally’s posts not to use pulp paper cartons in an incubator, but don’t remember why.
