The 10th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!!

Hi Everyone!

Update on my non EHAL hatch. 20 went into lockdown and 11 hatched successfully. 1 externally pipped but I think suffocated because it got rolled onto the pip. I'm happy overall although bummed about the one I lost. The other 9 did not pip and I left them for an extra 24 hours.

Here are the breeds I got and my guesses at genders:
4 Jubilee Orpingtons (2 pullets / 2 roos)
1 Chocolate Cuckoo Orp (pullet)
1 Chocolate Orp (pullet)
1 Splash Maran (pullet)
2 Legbars (1 roo / 1 pullet)
2 Olive Eggers (1 roo / 1 pullet)

Update for EHAL - my hen is still sitting on 9 eggs on day 20. She's pretty guarded and I didn't get the final candling in but there were a couple of suspected clears. I'm watching her really closely since she is an untested mama hen. My hopes are that she will do well and adopt the other babies too.

At night take a egg leave a peep do this at night and wear gloves for every peep take an egg

I blinked this morning and now have for Quail hatched!

I did not see a pip either.

Only 29 left to go!

FINAL HAL HATCH COUNT : 9/18

Honestly that is awesome for as far as these guys were shipped. 11 made it to lockdown. Had the one accidental suffocation when his pipped got covered and then the other looks like it died right after lockdown. Sad but I'm happy with the 9 little fluffy butts I have.

And everybody huddled under MHP. My first attempt at one. They seem to love it. Only time I hear chirping is when someone comes out and decides they're cold and they complain before running back under. Lol
