Ugh y’all I did a thing. I couldn’t stop obsessing over @igorsMistress’s naked necks and the feed store had pullets that hatched two days after all of ours..... so I got two.

Before I regret it.... will they assimilate into a regular layer flock looking differently?

Are those cedar chips? If so .. they need to be switched to pine. If not...sorry... .Cedar..not good for chicks. Maybe the coloring is throwing me off. Cute babies!

I have this—hopefully irrational—fear that in a week one of the chicks will fly up and out one of the cage holes. Don’t you think by the time they could do that they won’t be able to fit through? Or should I extend the netting up more than two feet to keep them from the big girls?

I have you down for 12 set. Did I get it wrong?

Nope, that was correct. We found 5 more eggs about 5 days later that we weren’t sure about and slipped them under the broody that we was more serious. (I guess those 5 set/3 hatched don’t really count then? So total for HAL would be 11)
