The 2010 Census

When you type in any town in the United States and go to the wikipedia site. It will tell about the place and it will have demographics and it will give the percetage of each ethnic group that lives there. The town I grew up in was in 2000 51% white, 28% American Indian, 18% black, 2% hispanic, 1 % the other groups combined. Rounded off. I dont care what color a person is. The way aperson treats me and other people determines whether I like em or not. Thats why they ask you what race are. I have 2 in me. In my State there are many people with 2 or more races in their blood. If this Earth is still populated by Humans 200 years from now I think there will be just 1 race. But still many different colors of chickens.

Irish, Native American, Chinese, Puerto Rican are all in my family.
Maybe write down on the race...mutt.

Why is my mother listed on everything as a "white female" when she looks
like a chubby, dark, NA woman? I look Irish with Chinese facial features!
I'm all mixed up!

I find it's the best way to keep uninvited guests to a minimum. They always put us on the "Don't ever go there again" list.

I landed one of the temporary census jobs. In my area, it only pays $10/hr. Personally, I think it's just another HUGE waste of money. I did fill mine out and send it in though.

The money they would save by not doing it, would fill ALL the potholes.

How do you think they get that info? The Census

So if we use your analogy, we should be breeding to a Standard of Perfection? Just kidding, just kidding everyone

I'm filling mine out this morning. What I don't get was last week they sent out letters to each household reminding you that you will be getting a census form in the mail.

I wonder how much that cost?

It just amazes me how many people that won't fill out the Census Form. What do you have to hide? You know if you are so scared of our Government you can always move to another Country. Don't you people realize how lucky you are to be living in the United States of America? Stand up and be counted. The Government has been doing this every 10 years since 1790, what's the big deal!

I got counted twice at the last census.

You were supposed to report who lived in your household on April 1, 2000. We closed on our new house April 3, 2000 when I was 7 months pregnant with our first child. On the 1st of April we were still in our apartment, so I filled it out based on our apartment address.

We moved into our new house and after a while I get a knock at the door. A census worker tells me that they didn't get a census report for this address and they'd be happy to fill that out with me right now. I explain to him that the house was vacant on April 1st and I already filled out a census report based on where we were living on April 1st, we didn't close on the house until April 3rd. So he says okay and he goes away.

A few weeks later, a different census worker comes to tell me they need to fill out the census for our address. I explain all over again how we didn't own this house on the 1st, the people we bought it from moved to NC and I DID fill out a census form for our last address. She says okay and goes away.

A few weeks later, the first census guy comes back and says he talked to his supervisor and they told him to get the information from us from the census. By this time, I'd had my baby, so he counted my husband, myself and my baby (who wasn't even born until JUNE!)

So, I don't understand how people managed to NOT fill out the census form - they kept coming to the house until they got the information they wanted!

"Americans need to stand up to Washington's intrusion into our private lives. What business of government is the number of times a citizen has been married or what he paid for electricity last month? For those who find such intrusion acceptable, I'd ask them whether they'd also find questions of their sex lives or their marriage fidelity equally acceptable.

What to do? Unless a census taker can show me a constitutional requirement, the only information I plan to give are the number and names of the people in my household. The census taker might say, "It's the law." Thomas Jefferson said, "Whensoever the General Government (Washington) assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force."" - Walter Williams
