True had lept from River's feet, creeping towards his owner's bedroom, which was emanating sounds of crashing objects. The dog paused as he entered the room, seemingly stunned at the sight of a phoenix, leopard, and house cat in his home.

River stood erect, yanking her earbuds out as the barks of her service dog met her ears, and crashing came from her room.
She stood there for a second, bewildered, but soon collected herself. "Lucas!" She yelled, running through the hall way and skidding into her room, eyes wide in fearful shock. "What...?" She whimpered, then shook her head. No time to be weak.
