And as far as the wanting goats, goes, we are looking forward to have lambs born about the same time the eggs are in the icubator.

All these cute chick and duckling pics are making me SO eager to hatch my own!

I am going to start collecting eggs this week, probably around the first of March. Our laying hens had a spectacular (for February) laying week last week! We have a total of 44 hens (two coops, a mixed flock of 32 hens with Delaware roo and an EE flock of 11 hens with 1 BCM hen and EE Roo). Last week they had several record days for this year so far, with one super day when the EE coop laid 12, for 100%, and the main coop had 20, for a total of 32 eggs! That is 73% of all our hens! Woohoo!

Their week total was 187 eggs, which comes out to about 61%, still not bad for February, at least much better than our flock did last year!

For hatching I am only going to be collecting some EE eggs, and some Delaware eggs(we only have 4 Delaware hens in the main coop), and possibly a couple of eggs from our 1 BCM hen for olive eggers!

April is going to be a VERY EXCITING month for my family, as we will not only have the chicks I am hatching in the hatch-along, but we have an order from McMurray coming on the 8th of April, for some more BOs and a couple of SLWs (yay!), and then on the week of the 15th we are getting in 100 cornish broiler chicks for my brother's meat chicken business(those go in two huge brooders in the garage), and THEN on the week of the 22nd we are getting an order from Cackle with 8 BBW turkeys(our first time with turkeys!) and 12 Welsh Harlequin and Anacona ducks for my sister's laying duck flock! Somehow we will find room for all of them...

Until then I will just have to live vicariously through all your cute hatchling pictures.... *sigh*

Well my husband is looking at incubator plans so we can have more than one and is talking about building multiple coops for breeding our own birds. I think he has been bitten by the hatching bug.

I love how my husband has become more interested in animal husbandry lately. I really think that if the conditions are right (IE, we have a bit o money) he'd let us move to the country finally, and I'd be so happy!!!
Thank you! My lil girl Harmony

The chick is Very energetic just keeps rolling to back at times because of belly... belly looks a tad smaller, after checking him I put him back in the cup will check in two hours and put him in the brooder to see how he walks again and keep trying!

he makes it!

LOL! My birthday is March 31st, Easter this year. I keep hinting to DH that I want/need a new incubator. We'll see

Oh, hope you get one! That'd be awesome!

Wow, good looking bird! Is that your daughter? She is also good looking young lady! Congratulations to her for the bird and to you for the lovely daughter!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww! Too lovely! Me want too, but me trying to control urges! My husband said the other day "you know, we could keep a goat in our backyard...." I had to REALLY be mature and decline, as we do have neighbors that I'm pushing at the moment, LOL. (city folk!)

How many times do you have to post before you can post pics on BYC?

No, not for me. A gal on another thread says she can't get any pics to post. She has only posted 24 times, and I couldn't remember how many times you had to post before BYC would allow you to post pics?

After seeing all of the cute duckling photos, I figured that I should post one of my own. Here is one of my black east indie ducklings that I recieved on Valentines day. They are now a week and a half old and they're huge! I can't believe how fast these little guys grow!
