We would like to join the hatch along! I have a bid for some eggs on e-bay...maybe I'll get lucky and "win" the auction :)... If not I've been thinking about setting my marans eggs as they run with a handsome blue ameraucana roo...olive eggers? I think my grandson (age 5) will be soooo excited for an easter with baby chicks!

i wish i had something to donate. but unless people want a bunch of boring barnyard mix eggs shipped to them from a person who has never shipped eggs, i cant.

could we do something where we have a big prize that costs a lot of money, but nobody wants to pay for it in full, so they split the cost up? say for a brinsea incubator or something.

I will look into it.

I have a broody!!

Now the next question from a Newbie.... will she sit until the eggs all hatch? she has been in the nest for 2 weeks or so, i finally left her two eggs of her own the other day... just to see if she in fact is going to stay with them. so far so good. IF i give her eggs that i want to hatch for the easter hatch... will she stay that long on the nest? its 9 days away.. OR will she give up if they dont hatch around 21 days.....

No, it won't work. The only way it can work is if you take the 2 eggs she's currently sitting on and finish them off in the incubator yourself - and give her a fresh set of eggs that will all hatch at the same time. Otherwise, she'll leave the nest with the first chicks that hatch, usually by the 2nd day.

Like Kelly said, you need to keep your eggs all around the same due date. I have a showgirl brooding on ten eggs right now. When I first let her sit, I scribbled a pencil line around all the eggs and put them under her. She is in the coop with other girls, so each day I pick her up and count. If there are more than ten, I remove any egg that doesn't have a pencil scribble.

So far so good.

This is her first attempt. If she manages to hatch these chicks, I'll move her to a pen by herself for the safety of the chicks. She is sitting on all silkie/SG eggs, except the one Olandsk Dwarf I slipped in

No I was posting in another thread on shipped eggs and I got a pop-up message saying that because I am new, I need a moderators approval to post.

Weird.

Oh, you know you might have accidentally submitted multiple posts at the same time by accident (I think you have a tricky connection right?). I could see the mods having a stop system for new sigs in place to block that so the boards don't get spammed.
