Cochins and silkies and Japanese somethings and rumpless somethings and anconas and americanas and more... I had them write on the eggs, but I got home and realized that not all of them are labeled. They were pulling them out of nesting boxes for me, ad he HA collected eggs about 2 hrs ago... :)

Oh and campines and something she called a Millie? I'm new to this, and I had never heard of half the breeds she mentioned. I just stood there with my jaw hanging open while I held the egg crate lol

Where do you get Jap eggs from?? I'm looking all over and trying to find black tailed buffs, but man are they hard to find.

OK, new plan. I have over 90 eggs. For those of you that know me from all the special hatches, I seem to blow them. I've had a low as zero and one chick out of over a hundred eggs at set, even hatch. Not counting my eggs before they're laid, but a lot of the eggs or all are going to be set. I still have 6 days and this is 4 or 5 days worth of eggs. I got 27 eggs 2 days ago, so more are kicking in on laying. Still nothing from a couple of breeds, but things are picking up.

I was also going to say that if there is anyone close enough to me that wants some mixed breed eggs to set, I could share some. Most are in with FBCM roos and there are OEs, an EE and some Marans and some Wellie mixed hens with them. I raise them as layers and to sell for money for feed, but I could give them to someone who does't have the money or time left to buy hatching eggs. There might even be one or 2 that will have the project roo for my lavender eggs. Not sure if he's old enough, but he's not shy out there.

I hope your eggs are OK!

I qould like to join in the Easter hatching fun...is this all I have to do is post here? Our thread is buzzing with people doing the hatch and trying to "make" the rest of us join too!
Thanks--TErriO

Muah ha ha ha, welcome to the dawk side.

:D

Soooo....I may have played on the egg swap thread this morning and have some Silver Sussex and Blue Marans coming to help me launch the inaugural hatch for Sir Bator. Got 3 dozen eggs collected from the pens so far... got some other Ams coming this week, too. That should be a nice Easter hatch. :D

:) I got the eggs from a woman on Craigslist here in Wichita Falls. I had to drive out of town a bit to get to her. It's actually her 8th grade son who raises chickens. Apparently they take eggs and chicks to auction in Austin Tx once a month. She said their chickens sometimes go for quite a lot.

Oh shoot. I have too many eggs for my incubator! Guess I'm off to buy one from the feed store lol....
You sound like me. I have 3 going and somewhere in the garage or at storage I have 4 more. I don't have enough outlets to plug them all in. Or space. LOL

Does anyone know why you can't (or rather shouldn't) use iodized salt to calibrate a humidity gauge? I'm curious and that's the only kind of salt I have.
