yes occasionally. I keep something under them too. The chicks let them drip also. If they do drip I take apart and clean the prices inside and put back together. Hard water .... I use my fridge water being its purified to help with it. Intact I have a. Filtration system on whole house. Inside our pump house.
I may have to check into these nipples. I used rabbit water bottles with the quail I hatched last time, but they were a couple weeks old before I tried it because I think they would have been to big for the tiny quail. I did have a couple of them that liked to just stand under it to see how fast they could drain it at first. I have a smaller like guinnea pig/bird one but the container to it broke and I can't find a water bottle that will fit it. I may have to try cutting the bottom of a water bottle like you did, only I would probably have to caulk it or something because it has a rubber stopper with a screw on lid. but then again this still may be to big for day old chicks. Can you buy the water nipples someplace like TSC or do you have to order them online? I don't remember seeing them at our farm stores here but I may not have looked very hard.

My backup plan was making the bunny buns... hmmm... Maybe I'll need a plan C?
heres one y'all might not mess up...

Colored Deviled Eggs:

step by step instructions with pictures! http://www.foodjimoto.com/2011/04/easter-eggs.html
I prefer to steam my eggs instead of boiling....way easier to peel!
My plan C...

I made this bottle waterer for my chicks yesterday. Reason I made it upside down was to leave cap loose and let air in. First one I tried was in the cap. It would get air locked. It works great. No more changing water all the time from them dirtying it

Just showed my hubby this!!

I only have nipple waterers with PVC watering except 3 places. Those I have on top off wire and they poke through the bottom.Mainly when I do it that way I use bleach bottles and the nipples are at the bottom. I used to use the big buckets from HD and Lowes the same way, but now bucksets are outside the pens and the PVC runs along the wire. Much easier to fill and not get everything wet inside.

if you have a steamer just steam them like you would veggies...for about 20 minutes...then put them immediately into an ice bath for a rapid cool down, which also help on the yolk turning that green funky color.
If you dont have a steamer, but have a metal colander you can put a pot of water boiling, put your eggs in the colander and set them where the handles rest on top of the pot of water, and the eggs aren't in the water and try to cover as well as you can with a lid or plate. Which is what I did until I bought a steamer.
I have also heard of people putting eggs in the oven to 'boil' them...you could look that one up online I think.

I ordered mine from amazon. It did not take the chicks long to learn to use it. I just showed them when they hatched. And then once more . Now the others see them doing and they do it also.
