It's usually a good idea to write down your post number of the picture of your full incubator for the best hatch contest. Easier than finding it late if you happen to win the best hatch contest.

I cracked open one of my eggs last night just to check and THEY ARE FERTILE!!! My young Roos are dong their job!! I'm going to put a dozen in for the hatch-a-long to give to a friend when they hatch... I'm so excited!!

LOTS of rain here overnight and today... also lots of wind and thunder an it's COLD!!! Only 50 degrees out there right now! Brrrrrr......

Hmm......I wonder how many chicks Mahonri will hatch this year......

Ok, I picked up my eggs today. Now what do I do, they are nasty. I'm not sure I want to put them in with the others I've recieved. I'm a newbie so......................how do I clean these ?? Please help
OK, those are nasty. I'd understand if they were geese or ducks, but I can almost smell those. LOL I've gotten eggs like this. I've never and never will send any like this either. But, I've set both washed and dirty when I've gotten them and had some hatch. You can use a ap er towel with water just slightly warmer than the temp of the egg and wie them off as good as you feel neccessary. So use steal wool, but I tried that once and it just frustrated me.
Those are nasty, I would get with the seller and ask what their policy is on unhatched eggs. I woulf not have the nerve to send eggs like that. Good morning everyone... Today is set day. I will be setting late since I'm at work. Quail have a few more days

Saturday morn, incubator just plugged in, hygrometer started with salt test and humidifier set up in room with incubator. Now all I need is the shipped eggs I ordered...oh well, if they show up this morning I'll start the hatch late tonight. If not I'll call the supplier and reschedule shipment for Easter weekend and order an extra dozen. Had been second guessing myself on a single dozen considering my horrible results with shipped eggs and really want enough chicks on the ground from this breed. Kinda a blessing in disguise if they don't show.

No idea how many I'll be setting. Have 36 of my own and plan to cull out odd shaped and the oldest, started collecting two weeks ago.

I set at 8:00am this morning because I have to be out this afternoon. 37 eggs total. 14 BLR Wyandottes, 15 GNH, & 8 Swedish Flower. All shipped eggs. It's our first time using the incubator and we're very excited. Thanks for all the great advice!

Hi... If it were me, I'd move the 2 eggs closest to the egg turner mechanism. It gets HOT and definetly raises the heat of the egg right in front of it. Moving the second egg is just to be safe and because you have the extra room. I am borrowing an egg turner right now and the manufacturer blocked off that last whole all together. Just an FYI...

Eggs set and ready to go:

1 Olde English Game Bantam/Silkie Cross egg
5 Purebred Bearded Silkie eggs
3 Purebred Polish eggs
11 Large Fowl cross eggs

Now, how many day until we candle??? Ha-ha-ha! I can't wait to see what mix we get with the LF cross. I'm really hoping for some neat ones - especially another TURKEN!
