Quote: Yes, you might, but the betadine really does kill off the bacteria very well. I use whatever candles are around, even if they're scented! I know one gal who uses crayons...

Just in case, when I'm really antsy, I'll set the potential bombs in the far corner alone, and loosely wrapped in a paper towel so if they *do* blow, they won't splatter all the others. I'm always willing to give them a chance, just in case...and I've had some really bad ones hatch, so I encourage others to try...cautiously.

Anyone out there from Australia that knows anyone with fertile quail eggs??? Who can get them in overnight?

I was going to pick up new eggs today but the people we reserved eggs with 2 weeks ago, told us today they didn't have any fertile eggs as we were driving down to go pick them up...

(not cool since it is an hour drive to their place!!

) .... /End Rant :p

I candled the eggs tonight that I set on Sunday. One of my Rumpless Araucana eggs has TWO embryos developing... they are both kicking around and dancing, and I'm sitting here with my jaw hanging open in shock. I know the chances of them both making it are slim, but I'm still hopeful. It was a HUGE egg from such a tiny little chicken... I guess that explains why... I tried to get a picture, but the shell is so hard to see through that I can't get it to turn out where you can see them both... I'm hoping next week when I candle again I can get a better one, if they are both still there and developing.

There is a thread on here somewhere I saw from a couple years ago - that goes through the whole process of her "twins" very interesting and they Both hatched and lived! I'll see if I can find it if your interested....

I just found a girl on YouTube that hatched them out, twice and they lived. She gave an official thanks to the folks at BYC for all of their help at the end! Gonna try and find it!
