Chickenpooplady, my embryos aren't that big. About 1/4 inch, if that? I've got some Dorkings in there, so I'm not surprised to get some early quitters. Dorkings have a lethal gene, so I lose about 1/4 of their eggs early on. 14 eggs left have dancing embryos so far.....

Ok thank you. This is my first time incubating so I am a worried mother hen.

Good morning

Woke up to another wintery day. Kids have no school, I have no work today, so its a chore day.

To me that does NOT look like a chore day. Looks like a curl up in front of a fire, soup simmering, read a book and maybe make cookies kind of day. Cold/gray/cold/wet to me equals head to the kitchen and then take a nap, lovely day!

Is it too late to enter the hatch-a-long? I set 42 eggs on Sunday, March 10th at 1pm. I really tried to set them on Saturday, the 9th, but I still had eggs hatching in my incubator! :) I'm kinda a newbie to BYC, so let me know if there's any other info you need from me for the Hatch-a- long. P.S. I candled the 42 eggs this past Sunday, the 17th, and it looks like 32 eggs are fertile, and 10 maybe's at this point.

Thanks!

I tossed the 2 eggs that I could not tell anything earlier. Both infertile. 40 good out of 46. Anxious to candle again.

LOL I was planning on doing inside the house chores but Ive been lazy sitting on BYC all day. I did spend some of my day outside with my chickens taking pics of them, thats productive right?

I'm afraid this is going to be a very disappointing hatch for me... Out of 13 of my own eggs I set, only two are developing. I promised the chicks to a friend to start her flock. She wants to surprise her little boy on Easter morning, so I really hope those two hatch.

Of the 12 eggs I got through the Easter swap, only two of the 8 silkies are developing and the only one of the four Seramas (which I was SO excited about) that was developing, now has a blood ring...

So out of 25 eggs, if all of the ones that are developing now hatch, my grand total will be 4...

Aww..so sorry about the eggs. Seriously, if your friend wants chicks for Easter morning, let me know, she can have some of my extras. Even if she wants some of my older chicks in the brooder. Anything to help enable a new chicken lover.
