I have 3 breeds in my 'bator right now, but just 1-3 of each. I have lemon cuckoo orpingtons, Swedish hens, and coronation Sussex. This is my first experience with any of these breeds and all were from a shipped source. Once they begin hatching, should I easily be able to tell the difference between the breeds or should I somehow separate them at lock down tomorrow??

Oooh!! 3 Breeds I'd love to have!

I was 1 who made a comment on the tat/piercing issue, but not directly to the pic itself. Someone commented about blowing the nose being an issue & the thought was a bit disturbing to imagine. I myself have no piercings, but I do have tats. I also "do" tats for other people. The issue of tats/no tats or piercings/no piercings is a personal 1 for everyone. Some people are strongly opposed, some are all for & some are neutral. There are also those who fall everywhere in between. What we all have to remember is that it's a personal choice for each individual person & everyone is entitled to their own opinion of it. Something that is a "choice" is always open to ridicule simply because it IS a choice. One has to remember, if they make the choice to have tats or piercings there are always those who will have an issue with it somewhere. However, it's your REACTION to the other person's opinion that defines YOU as a person.

"WELL SAID"

Since the guess how many will hatch is still going on, I wont give too many specific numbers, but I tossed two of my Turkey eggs early, and, no surprise, not all of my 200+ quail will be going to lockdown. Some of my dark chicken eggs I'll lock down and see, unless a miracle happens and I get x-ray vision.
As far as tats/piercings, etc. As one who is known to dress oddly, and do some outrageous things just to see peoples reactions, I will say, I still stare. I dress differently simply to see reactions and to demonstrate to those who are willing to get to know me that first impressions aren't always accurate. That, and I'm strange. : )
peace to all.

I forgot I had an egg in my pocket, and smashed it. To make it worse, I also had my camera in that pocket.

Luckily it was just one egg, and a small bantam egg even. But is still seems like a lot of egg goo came out of it when I was cleaning up the mess. I've got to stop using my pockets to collect eggs in. It seems like I do this at least every few months. Time to find a cute basket for collecting eggs, that I will probably forget to bring with me to the coop most of the time.

You're not alone. It just happened to me the other day, but it was my phone in my pocket(well I guess that's a camera too). I was really glad it wasn't the turkey egg.
