I only pulled 1 at lock down, so hoping for a strong finish!

Happy Easter Everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed day with family, friends, pets and loved ones!!
I do have a question for anyone that might be on who can help:). I have a chick hatching from a smaller round shaped egg who's air cell was on the side. Anyway I read about how to place it ect so it could hatch and I did as I read but now it is hatching on the opposite side (not where the air cell is) and there is a few spots of blood where it has pipped:( it is still poking its beak under the membrane but there are some blood spots inside the membrane.... So my question since it is still alive and working on itself do I leave it alone and at what point do I assist and how?!!??

Thanks so much in advance!! I would really like to have this little one make it:) my fingers are crossed!!!
Have a great day!!
Do not assist. At this time it is absorbing the yolk. As long as it is breathing..it is absorbing...give it 24 hours. Chicks can live three days with out food and water after hatch. Some chicks sit under the hen for days and days while she waits for the rest of the eggs to hatch. New chicks are shipped across the States with out food and water. If that chick is strong enough to be part of your flock, it will make it...you have a long time. Go have a cup of coffee and clean out the coop..make some curtains for the nest boxes..eat some Easter candy...spend time with your family.

First Chick pipped late yesterday afternoon and popped her little head out of the shell at 4am. Yes, I was up. LOL

Still hatching here in Sunny Kansas where the grass is getting GREENER by the second!

Attached is a peak of some of the lovely Wheaten and Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas. I am so excited. I just love this stock I purchased as eggs from Peachick. The eggs as you can see, well a bit diluted in color in photo, are a beautiful Robin colored blue. The other stock are Olive eggers/Rainbow type layers.

Will post another photo soon
HAPPY EASTER!!!!!

OK, I didn't even try for the Easter hatch along. My eggs were due to hatch 2 days ago. But they held out. 2 chicks this morning. And Olive Egger and a Jaerhon. I have two more pips on Jaerhon eggs. About 10 more to go.

I saw the last post, hatching in an egg carton. I was thinking about this. As my eggs are in an egg turner. Thoughts? Does keeping them upright help?

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Our first little boy Earl! He hatched at 7:30 last night.
Another boy just hatched and I have 3 more pips out of 13 eggs I put into lockdown. I'm really hoping I get some more. I'm worried about my pullet cream legbar eggs, one filled the egg on wednesday so I was really thinking he might hatch early but none of those eggs have pipped.

Right now the only ones that have hatched were shipped!
I did set 12 hours later than everyone though so I guess I shouldn't be too worried yet.

Lots of load thunder and tonsof lightening. Three bators in lockdown. Oh yeah! Kim's gotta hatch going on and Kim's Law has kicked in. Paniced over the power going off.
scary storm for us silly Californians, plus had peepers trying to hatch.
these marans eggs are hard to tell top and bottom, I just might try hatching laying them on their side all the way through the hatch next time. just helped 2 out they where upside down. Have 25 more chicks give or take one. I think it is about over. 2 more pipping I'll watch them help them if need be. Have to go take a bath and feed my animals.. be back soon...

Thanks Delisha!
I was/am only concerned bc of the blood and that it is pipped in the wrong side of the egg!! I will not assist unless someone were to tell me
This was an urgent situation lol! So that is why I ask:) I will keep checking every hour or so to make sure that the little beak is still moving under there once and a while! I do hope it just pecked a little blood vessel or something and it can complete its hatch:). Thanks so much!!! I look forward to posting pictures later of its fuzzy little butt!!!!
Off to the barn now to have a pep talk with my mares.... I need to sleep at some point and they are driving me crazy:)
