You've been nabbed by HENN and that's your tracking number. Get over there and start reading the Cinco de Mayo thread, my love.

Does anyone know as far as shows go what kind of 'vendors' are usually present and what kind of things do they sell? will there be refreshments to buy? Just wondering so I can plan to have $ accordingly and since we plan to make a day or even weekend of it want to wanted to know what we will need to do food wise. My S.O is a piggy for sure, some how he stays small but man can he eat and don't mess with him when he's hungry lol!

Any time I go to swaps, meets, shows or even auctions I always pack food or even the cooler to help save on expenses. Always cheaper to bring your own food than to pay $3 just for a hotdog.

As a note:
Here's my method (I experimented for quite a while with this one before I got it to where I was happy with the results):

when I store hatching eggs I put them in a carton (styro preferred) with the pointy end down..  and put the carton of eggs in a zip loc bag (usually gallon size)

I then take a paper towel and fold it several times and soak it in oxine (listerine and water mix will also work) and add that to the bag under or next to the carton (not on top)

then I zip the bag closed and put them in the fridge.. turning the carton side to side a bit every day until I pull them from the fridge to hatch. (allowing them to come to room temp before placing in the incubator)

i can keep them viable for a minimum of 21 days that way.. but, as a note..  hatchability does start to drop if you leave them for too long.
With my own "farm fresh" eggs I can still get a good solid 90 to 100% hatch rate on eggs I store this way

Right now, they are just is a room. My refrigerator gets pretty cold (things freeze near the back). I only have paper (cardboard?) cartons, but can probably get a styrofoam from a friend. What does the oxine do? Where do I buy it? If Listerine/water, how much to each?

I was thinking of just buying a cheap incubator to use as a hatcher.

Sorry for all the questions. I just really don't want to mess this up. My first hatch were just barnyard mix, but these eggs are more exotic breeds & I really want them to hatch.

Good idea

Good idea but that will be my 'lure' to get S.O. To take me and be happier about it lol... Food hehe although I'm sure we will take a few things.

One of my LC Orp chicks died overnight; it had gotten into one of those "I can't turn around" spots and didn't know how to back out. I really try to minimize such chick traps, because it has happened before. Too long out from under the EcoGlow, but SO close to the warming plate. Why oh why don't chickens understand they do not always have to move only in the direction their beaks point? I hope the remaining LC Orp chick grows up to be a pullet. There are some other Orps, blue, black and splash, plus the Speckled Sussex, but chick death by misadventure just makes me so sad.
