How Many of you Add Charcoal to your Pens or Yards for the birds


I do its a great way to detox the birds if they by chance eat poison or get some bad sour tummies ,crops, or ?

What i do is put in a burned log Of cource its cold LOL but if the birds need the coal they eat it and i also found out it helps the digestive system


My roommate found this out and has been Burning my toast since LOL Tammy

I do not add charcoal, but the Hens love to eat the ashes out of the ash pan on my Weber....Of course there may be some meat drippings in there too....

And now, since I just bought a new phone, I have a pic that's late for the party. I have co-broodies on 11 eggs. 4 out so far

Just two more left to hatch, so should be done tomorrow. I candled then float tested those that hadn't even pipped and they were all dead :-( One was a beautiful big egg.

I've candled the ones that I think are not going to hatch after a few days past the hatch date, but what is the float test?

set 12 Black Copper Maran eggs Saturday, at the Assisted / Independent Living Community I work at, the residents are having a great time, knowing that soon we will have baby chicks, they help hand turn the eggs, twice a day. and Wed. we are going to candle to check viability. Great Fun!
