Im already planning my duck house, I am setting aside a few hundred, i think I will skip the dog house, and build something cheaper! My craigslist never has any good dog houses. hmph.

taz, I looked at your swap page and saw violet laced wyandottes, and now im already looking for hatching eggs! why!?

I would love to have hatching eggs, however not yet. Last year I had a set back. I still have a trio, actually 2 pair, but the splash laced roos type is pretty bad. He is the only one that survived last years set backs. I hope he gets better since they are so slow to mature. I am still working on them.

i am sitting here designing it, and everytime i ask myself, how many ducks maximum? the number goes up.. we are making it out of plywood that is 8' by 4'
so the back will be 8 by 3
front 8 by 4 (for slant)
sides 4 by 4 (with slant thing)
and 4 by 4
bottom 8 by 4
floor space will be 32 square feet, 4 square feet per bird thats 8 ducks, then minus 4 square feet for feed and water, thats 7 ducks.

Sounds good?

are the nests on the ground? up high? in boxes/baskets on the ground?
