After twenty four years using one kind, I am now considering trying something new.

Well I mentioned in an earlier post about building your own bator. My daughter and I built this one for an elderly lady who lost over half her flock due to a Fox attack after she forgot to close up her pen. I felt so bad for her that I gave her 12 of my laying hens and built her this incubator as she wants to hatch some Australorps. She sells the eggs to supplement her income. She lives about 25 miles from me on the edge of Glacier National park and I am meeting her in town tomorrow to give this to her. What do you guys think of the bator? It has fans in it for circulation that you can just make out in pic #3. I tested it out and got it to regulate the temp +-1 degree.

Nice Jessshan8, what a beautiful thing to do. I also have neighbors that are on a fixed income and help out buying sending eggs, fresh chicken and pork to them to help them get by. I love my neighbors, not so much their dogs, but them I love.

You know, where we put our names and say how many eggs we set then post the picture to confirm. Or do we just post along with this thread where it gets impossible to keep up? The kids and I are excited for another Easter hatch.

What a wonderful gesture on your part. The incubator looks GREAT!!! Maybe she can start hatching out chicks to help with income also?

I'm in again! Wouldn't miss it. Even ordered my new brinsea. Good bye lg. I hope we have a list of participants. Its always interesting to see how many people join and the thousands of eggs set.

Also someone was talking turkey. Last year there was a turkey hatch following this one.

Oh and where's mahonri...it wouldn't be the same without him and "Mn" lol

Yes, We did a turkey hatch a thon immediately after. THe set date was hatch day as I remember.
Up for hatching turkeys again??

Prizes aside, I think this is going to be a lot of fun! My 2nd time incubating.
Think I'll hatch my own eggs for now, then when I get my new bator, I'll invest in some quality hatching eggs.
Can't wait to begin!!!
