No he was not but had the same markings and body frame as one he was actually a barn cat at a local dairy farm that I worked at that was really sick as a kitten. I rescued him and took him to the vet. He was killed by a neighbor dog several months ago and cannot bring myself to remove him as my avitar.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I totally understand leaving him as your avvy, though. When one of my favorite pullets got killed by a dog last year, I had her picture in my avatar for a few months after the fact. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to her for a while. I still miss her.

Will be setting Blue Plymouth Rocks. Guess that means I'll have to start collecting eggs about February 28th. Gosh also have to cull my second rooster soon so he's not in any mix but some good gumbo.

Blue Rocks?? Oh goodness, I didn't know there was such a thing! Well, you've got me jealous over here. Same goes for whoever it was that may be hatching black Orps.

Welcome to all of you that have joined the party!
I recommend buying the Brinsea Spot Check thermometer - it is accurate to .1 degree. It was the best thing I've ever bought for incubating. It's $30, but well worth it - I haven't had a bad hatch since I got it. I have both a Hovabator still air and a Brinsea Octogon40.
AWESOME!!! I had a good feeling you would!!! YAY!!! will be so much fun!!

This will be my first hatch ever! Whee!

(Not including the broody I had last year, which I hardly got to see, anyway)

I'm so sorry for your loss... He was beautiful..

I will do my best to encourage people to play. It's nearly impossible for me to keep up with 'The Natural Chicken Keeping Thread'! I gave up trying to keep up with the Washington Peeps Thread! So many people. So many chickens! Not enough incubators!

I was up to the wee hours researching on Genesis 1588. You and aoxa are influencing me! Hah! My husband is going to say, "The money you spend on another better incubator could buy you a lot of Catdance eggs!" GAH!

Do it. I love my genesis! I had a still air for the longest time and it worked, but the genesis is so nice. The genesis keeps temperature perfectly and I don't even bother starting it up before I'm going to put the eggs in, it's very accurate, there is no adjusting.

I love mine too. Once I got the temps right it holds it no problem. The thermostat in mine was a little low but I used a calibrated thermometer/hygrometer and it's all good now. Go for it!

Thanks for the excellent review! Sounds good. After using a LG for twenty four years, I think I deserve an up-grade.

Okay. I found an ad online for someone fairly near to where I live that's selling a used incubator for $50. I thought about it, thought about it, called and left a message. Here goes nothing

In a month's time, I could well be collecting eggs from my Icelandics to hatch for this!
Go for it Red! Hopefully I'll have some Icelandics to hatch too!

So sad. I had two like that, father and son and I lost them both. Something about the white cats make them big targets I think.

I like mine too. It worked a lot better for me once I figured out what I needed to keep the humidity at! I like that it is big enough to put cartons in and it has the huge window.

Same for me,I have mine set up in the basement, very stable ,although cool, dry air ,so I added a couple tubes (aquarium hose, they sell it at the hardware store) run in along with the wire for the turner.During lock-down I can add water with a medicine dosage syringe from the drug store without opening the lid.
