Quote: if you run duck and or muscovy at that high of humidity during incubation it will drown them. yes you can get a few to hatch, but they NEED to loose moisture during incubation and should be done at 30% or less during setting, and 70% at lock down.
I put my muscovy duck with the chicken eggs-- dry incubation--

I will have some of my own eggs to set for the hatch, yay! My serama's laid their first egg today (next to an egg from one of my large fowl hens in the pic). Now if only the call ducks, mandarins, and d'uccles would start laying too, I'd be all set.

Perfect timing.

for the others to get in the laying mood.

YEahhhhh , finally caught up on this thread. THe snow is so pretty. THe boys were out snow shoeing; the mouse from the mouse trap will go to the hay pile instead of the mouse rock which I can't find; the dog finally made his own pathways beyond the 2 x 3 I shoveled for him; and the horses are kicking up their heels having a blast; and rolling in the snow. One more day of clean up . . . .

Arielle, are you hatching too? What are you hatching this time? Good to see you here. :))

Are those silkie chicks????? They are so cute!!!!

Thanks OZ!! You inspired us to start early this year;-)
And Yes they are Silkies!! 4 Silkies and 2 frizzled polish but those two are hiding under the tunnel!! 1 very nice blue, 2 blacks and a splash Silkie, and one of the frizzles has the strangest coloring I have ever seen! All black with 2 white toes and white wing tips on each side!! I will try to get a good picture in a couple days! Would be neat if "she" stayed that color:) We are very happy with them! Now to see how many roo's we end up with lol!

We are going to be participating in the hatch-a-long and had set eggs 19 days ago to check fertility. We have 8 babies in lockdown as I type!! Five are my sons first hatch from his new silkie chickens. He is super excited :) Nice to see a 14 year old excited about something other than video games  :/

They are supposed to hatch on his birthday! That would be a great surprise for him :)

We have two dozen turkey eggs due to come to us that we were going to add for the hatch-along. Looks like we might have those early but if they are we'll still have a another bator to fill of chicken eggs for the hatch-along :)

:jumpy

Lol lovemychicklets your son and mine sound a lot alike!! Mine is 10 and he is chicken crazy too I am so glad he has found this as a hobby as there are many other things they can get into trouble with these days haha!!
We just did our first test hatch of silkies also and had great results I will be doing the happy lucky hatching dance for you that the others did for me earlier this week
