Arielle I thought I'd post this pic for you. Don't know how much you can see, but last summer the neighbors called Makayla to their house. Kayla is in my ID pic. She was then and pretty small. So she comes home with this old beat up, smashed Pepsi carton. Inside was one of my Games on 15 eggs. I think 10 of them hatched. But just goes to show, they can hatch under any condition. It was 115 in the shade, she was in this carton on a garbage heap and she had chicks hatch. Lots of them! LOL




Not the greatest pic, but I didn't want her disturbed any more than she was. I was shocked that the eggs and her didn't fall right through during Makayla's moving them.

Holy Smokes!!! Strong carton and strong child to carry everyone home. I do think the hens also protect the eggs from the extremely high temps. THey are good insulation and can really maintain the right temps. Did wonder though--Higher % girls? I wonder if those that did n't hatch were males that couldn't take the heat!!

It is pretty funny too, because once one in one basket hatches, the others in the basket start going. My students called the first one to go the "hatching basket" lol... Got the little baskets at wal mart.. for a couple of bucks total for all of them. I have 6.

I went to meet someone buying hatching eggs, then went to the library and on the way in the drive planned to pick up the egg cooler --I bring them in each night when it is cold to prevent frozen eggs. The cooler was GONE !!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently someone stole my egg cooler and the eggs,

I've been putting out eggs for a year and a half with no problems. I can't afford another cooler like that one, and my nice money container . . . . . IT was all worth, what?, $20 for eggs and cooler? I really am so upset.

I can replace the eggs, but not the cooler.

I am so sad to hear this! So sorry Arielle, why do people have to be so bad, do they have no conscience? It will come back to them at somepoint, always does!

THe strange thing is someone would need to drive up into my driveway to get the eggs, its not like they sit next to the mailbox. I do try to make it somewhat inconvenient as there are those that enjoy hitting the mailbox too. I just don't get it.

I can't beleive it is stolen, I'm going to go out and look around, maybe one of my kids picked it up for some reason. I'll have to ask in the morning. I really hope one of them picked it up. THey do help with the eggs sometimes-- usually when I ask though. lol
