I went to meet someone buying hatching eggs, then went to the library and on the way in the drive planned to pick up the egg cooler --I bring them in each night when it is cold to prevent frozen eggs. The cooler was GONE !!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently someone stole my egg cooler and the eggs,

I've been putting out eggs for a year and a half with no problems. I can't afford another cooler like that one, and my nice money container . . . . . IT was all worth, what?, $20 for eggs and cooler? I really am so upset.

I can replace the eggs, but not the cooler.

That just stinks. You have to be pretty low to steal a cooler of eggs.

Joining in here... I see many friends already beat me here...so thanks to some friends, I am corrupting a neighbor into getting chickens and hatching some for her as well as me. Setting some whit rocks, cherry eggers, olive eggers, Marans and polish. Hoping our silkies give us a few to put in also...
This is not my second time hatching with an incubator and we are installing a fan as soon as it comes in next day or two. Hoping the hovabator does well. Fingers crossed

Sorry couldn't resist!! I keep envisioning finding someone with THAT cooler, and calling the police. IT has my farm name on it for pete's sakes. Maybe they will realize it and return it!! My kids work hard, helping me collect eggs and cleaning and packing up eggs, and collecting the money. JERKS!!

I am so sad to hear this! So sorry Arielle, why do people have to be so bad, do they have no conscience? It will come back to them at somepoint, always does!

Well I am a firm believer That what goes around comes around and when it comes around it is generally thrice as bad. That's why I try to be the best person I can although sometimes I fall short.

I clean my church once a month. Last month I pulled into the parking lot to clean and there was an enormous pile of trash dumped all around the back door. Talk about confused?? Then I realized that someone had stolen the trashcan. Seriously? I'd like to meet the idiot that thought he'd sneak one past God! Boy, I hope he REALLY NEEDED that trashcan.

Yes, Arielle, I think we talked about the "poke and roll" method on another thread! How do you separate the ones that you are tracking? Like the ones that came out of the darkest eggs?
Do the paper towels get and stay damp? Do you have a way to separate them by egg color, or breed, or anything else?

I have 2 plastic "takeout dishes" to add water to,that are on top of the paper towels. Then a piece of hardware cloth on top of the dishes. Then I place my egg tray on top of the hardware cloth. I have never had a problem with the paper towels getting wet (yet.) The breeds I have chosen so far have been easy to identify at birth so there was never any need to separate them. I do label my eggs so I know who hatched when and can record it.

Brook havens .... I have a question for you I think you are the one that told me about using the horse pellets in the brooder box !
Do you wet them for the brooder boxes?

No I don't wet them. I use just enough to cover the bottom (1-2") of the brooder.

THe strange thing is someone would need to drive up into my driveway to get the eggs, its not like they sit next to the mailbox. I do try to make it somewhat inconvenient as there are those that enjoy hitting the mailbox too. I just don't get it.

Maybe someone will bring it back? Could it have been someone that knows you sell eggs..and thought it was their turn? Let's hope they bring it back. Good vibes in someone bringing it back. Yep.
