Thanks TheH Klan! She is supposed to be a Silver Laced Wyandotte, or at least that is what the lady who originally owned her told us. But I think true SLWs are supposed to have the more open lacing, like she has on her head and neck, all the way down their body, and this hen does not. She IS pretty though. Hope we can pull her through this. '
She did lay a nice medium size egg this morning without any trouble, but of course, her vent bulged right out again. We applied more honey and witch hazel, and gently put it back - it goes right back in easily with very little help - but it seems whenever she poops or tries to lay an egg, it comes right back out.We had to fix it two more times this afternoon! Hoping her muscles will eventually relax and keep it in on her own!![]()

Barnevelders just got sent today from VirginiaI have 200+ eggs on their way due tomorrow at the hit of the storm here as well as some that just shipped this morning coming from the south through the storm to PA!
We van only hope for the best.
Also have a young hen that wants to be broody, so this hatch could turn interesting for me. Only had chickens for a year, so this will be a learning experience. Just worried since she insists on the nest box 20 inches of the floor and will not accept anywhere else!
That's so nice of you Oz.If I cant get gibe them to a local, I will split them and send them to you and the HKlan of 10 for the cost of shipping. they were collected monday before sending
I had a famous breeder ship me eggs that will arrive Thursday. The problem is I requested them to be delivered on March 25!
Being a gentleman, he immediately offered to reship on the correct date.
Now I have 24 each of some of the oldest and purest lines of Barred Plymouth Rocks and White Jersey Giants eggs that I cannot hatch - and they are arriving Thursday
Anybody in southern California needing hatching eggs for hatchalong?
Oh, to be visiting in Southern California this week! Oz, those white JG eggs are making my eye teeth hurt. I also saw your post in the Northern California thread.Oh to live in California!!!! I'd be more than willing to take the BR's off your hands. Just tried to hatch a dozen of his eggs but sadly the PO did a number on them and I didn't get a single chick. Now I have 24 each of some of the oldest and purest lines of Barred Plymouth Rocks and White Jersey Giants eggs that I cannot hatch - and they are arriving Thursday Anybody in southern California needing hatching eggs for hatchalong?
