Oh well. not going to be able to participate this year. We lost power Tuesday night and still don't have it back yet. The eggs that were supposed to hatch Thursday have been gradually hatching...delayed by the erratic low temperatures we have desperately been able to keep since the power went out. 7 have hatched so far out of 30 so no setting of new eggs until this ordeal is over with. I am so wanting these eggs to hatch well. They are non-standard dorking colors given to me by someone who was driving though (he doesn't ship eggs...too many unhappy customers) so they aren't easilly replacable.

still...very happy with the husband for having thought to stockpile enough gas to get us through this!!!!

I am so sorry! That totally sucks!! Your eggs arrived beautifully packaged and completely intact. Some detached air cells, but not a big deal. SOOO your chicks are in the Hatch-A-Long. The pic is on post #3529. Inadvertently you are a part of the hatch, LOL! Thank You!

I am in, but by circumstances not a conscious effort.

I just set 5 Welsummer eggs under our Blonde Banty.
She went broody last year and I gave her a baby chick to get her off the eggs after 30+ days.
They should hatch Good Friday or later.

What kind of roo is in your avatar? He is absolutely GORGEOUS! I couldn't help but scroll back down to take a look at him again. Is he a mix, I noticed you only have a few PB chickens. I'm newer to chickens so don't have that eye yet for certain breeds. :)

Thank YOU ... gives me a reason to watch the thread!!! Well, aside from being voyeristic.

It's honestly my fault because I was trying to set up a new homemade incubator for actually hatching in, freeing up this one for the hatchalong (with a big huge window...LOL) but didn't realize the digital thermostadt needed a relay? face-palm.

Two more that I can see have pipped!!!!
(need an emoticon of biting fingernails)

Yippeeeeee!!!!!

Just set my eggs! It was maybe a wee bit after 12:00PM Eastern when I set them, because I wanted to take time to weigh and mark on a chart for each one so I can check them later. Takes a while with 46 eggs!

Here's the picture...

They are pretty packed in there, especially since several of those Delaware eggs are Whoppers!

I set...

16 Delawares
6 Delaware x BO
18 Easter Eggers
4 Delaware x Random Mix LF
2 Olive Egger (BCM x EE)

All are eggs from our flock collected in the past week. A few were collected this morning - I always switched out for the freshest eggs from the hens I wanted.

Ooooh, I don't know HOW I can wait 21 days for these to hatch!!!!!
