Fart eggs. Just a hiccup in the egg making process. No big deal.

Your lucky it is intact. I got one from a hen that is starting yesterday, it was one of those that are just thin..and yep, those darn chickens ate the inside of it..all of it! I hope she starts laying better, and..in the nest box..I found that one in the doorway of the coop. I herd a ruckus yesterday morning, I now wonder if it was her wondering what in the world was happening. She's a little dingy for now, but she'll get the hang of it, I hope. :D

Quote: well that was a few years ago. i was just looking through my photos and remembered that one. It wasnt anything scary, actually right after we took that it started going back up and being normal. but we took precautions and stopped at somewhere (i cant remmeber where)until it passed.

Oh my goodness, I have to return to this page every now and again..just went and it was a blast!

look at those eyes <3 she used to have such pretty eyes!! then one stupid day a stupid dog came and done a stupid thing and killed a chicken, and bit clovers head! so clover lost her eye, thank goodness only one or that dog would not be barking today. she lived one year and a hawk got her. that was a few months ago. she was so trusting of people, i miss her.

I have great news! The rescued Silver Laced Wyandotte hen with the prolapsed vent has FINALLY made progress!!! It has been almost a week now since we picked her up and so frustrating - we were putting her vent back in 4+ times a day since she would push it back out every time she pooped!

Several in my family were starting to wonder if it was a hopeless case... We had several failed attempts to wrap her up at night to hold it in overnight. Then last night my sister tried another wrap, and... for the first time it stayed on all night! Of course she pushed her vent out with a large poo in the morning when I unwrapped her, but I put it right back in with some honey and witch hazel, and then...

I came back from the store at noon to find her perched on her tub edge preening herself and... her vent was STILL IN!!!! I asked around and no one else in my family had put it back in that morning. Also, while she was standing there, she pooped twice on some newspapers we had put down, and HER VENT STAYED IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't imagine what a relief this is to us!!!!! Pheewwww!!!! Now we will just watch her for a couple more days and then hopefully, introduce her to our flock outside.
