The 4th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long

Alrighty, here is a photo of the eggs I set Saturday. I know they're not IN the incubator in this picture, but I wouldn't be able to get into position to take the photo where the incubator is set up.... (I toldja I didn't candle eggs "very often" - I just let the Brinsea take care of things.) I can see and access the control displays when the turner brings it back thisaway.....

I found a solution to turner problems. I turn by hand.

I have, but I have to many other things to do and spending 1/2 turning all those eggs and having the door open or my knocking the arm loose from my clumsiness, just doesn't cut it. LOL Plus this thing is 3 shelves that are 2 holders deep. I have to pull the first ones out to get to the back ones. Such a pain. I did a lot of hand turning when I wasn't so dang old. hehe

I had a thousand replies all piled up ready to quote and send, and then they disappeared.

It was so much work, and I haven't got time for doing it again, so you guys will have to just take my word that I had welcoming, kind, witty, insightful things for all of the posts since I went to bed last night, and that I'll be more careful posting again later.

Sally, rather than setting up another contest for the other eggs I talked about, why don't we just set up a second prize and third prize for the Flapper race? I'll offer a set of Blue/Black/Splash/Mottled bantam Cochins for the third prize and a set of Chocolate Orps for second prize.

SuperChemicalGirl, were you going to run a flapper contest? I can switch mine to a different one...

Everyone, shall I run a hint-a-day post? If you would pm me questions you think of, I'll post hints every morning to help!

Ok, off to try to force the (insert large number here, subject to penalty by local ordinance) Chocolate Plymouth Rocks in my yard into bins so I can move them out to the farm!

I forgot to post my setting picture! Here's all 54 eggs that are doing their thing in a 42 egg turner... Hope I don't bust it doing this!!! They were set on Sat at noon on time.

There are:

3 from my white Ameraucana Snow, 4 from my FBCM Lupe, 5 from my Welsummer Summer, 8 from my EE Noisy and 6 from some of my brown layers (all extra large!) covered by either my EE or FCBM roo

From a local source, so I'm hoping for a good hatch rate, 10 Spangled Russian Orloff

From Kraftyladies, 10 B/B/S Ameraucana shipped

From Crazypetlady 4 CCL, 2 Tolbunt and 2 Russian Orloff
