I am thinking about pulling them from bator :(

So they stop developing?? Or aren't developing?at
no one wants to drive to get any! you would think since we are this close to cabelas its worth a drive not? I dont want stuck with tons of chicks! Everyone wants my silkies and no cochins : ( and there are 9 growing strong in there, uggggg what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I gotta hatch them, it would be abortion at this point, and I DID put them in the bator. But I am seriously 2nd guessing the cochin, maybe get rid of roo and keep two hens for my broodies since they can set on a doz eggs the fatties LOL

lol the 'super intelligent'!!
I am truly sorry for the danger you all are in though all joking aside. I was just reading about 30+ cabins at pigeon forge, TN being destroyed...That's a lot of land and I'm sure some animals harmed too :( I don't think any people were harmed though.
I was just reading about that fire last night as well:( I am praying for all the people involved as that is always very scary and with the close proximity of those homes all together that is a difficult situation to reverse. We are extra sensitive to fire here as last summer we burned for 42 days and it was a very very scary time. GodBless the firefighters who do so much and risk all to protect homes, animals and land. I hope everyone in TN affected by these fires is alright!!!

I'm seriously feeling your pain!! I keep getting stuck with chicks, that become teens, that become adults...ROOSTERS in my case. I put ads on Craigslist, and get no responses or the run around. I did sella pair of Seramas last week, and now someone else that's stood me up twice just said AGAIN that she still wants them. I turned down 2 people because of her. I have 3 BLRW Cockerels that now need a home. UGH!

I was out of town since Thursday evening got back late last night... Even though this isn't the hat chalOng eggs.... Had to share...

Well I had my expensive eggs (that we drove and picked up) hatch wed aNd Thursday ....had other eggs in there too. the bought eggs out of two dozen we got 4 babies out of each dozen and out of half dozen silkies we got 3... Out of home grown eggs from 10 eggs we got 8!

Now on the hatch along eggs... Candled this morning... All of my blue Andalusian eggs were clear! Got a few brown eggs I'm not sure about and a couple I'm pretty sure are clear and several that have babies in there.

I have had gest diab. With a few of my pregnancies!!
I hate the 4 hr test :-&
Just don't pick the lemon-lime flavor if you like Sprite. I still cannot drink Sprite from that test! (and it's been 10 years)
Hello Everyone!
I have been away from my computer for about a week it seems lol and I cant figure out a lot of the functions from my phone (although I can only upload photos from my phone-lol so I am sort of backwards). We have been experiencing our first wildfire of the season here WAY too early

and had to evacuate our horses and collect important things... We were able to do a brief candling last night of our eggs and it looks like we have about 50% viable right now. We had a shipment of 14 eggs and unfortunately at this point it appears all but 2 are clear. I am hoping that we are wrong and I am going to give them a couple more days to show veining. Our other shipment of 9 eggs all but 1 have good solid veining and development (the 9th appears to just be slow but I still have hope for her). And all of our Silkies are chugging along!
So as long as they can get these fires undercontrol and we can prevent the super intelligent from playing with fire during our massive drought

then we should be ready for hatching come the 30th!!! Now I need to go back and catch up on the thread to see all the excitement we have missed:)
Hope the fires ease for you. Stay safe.
My SO tells me I have a problem,

I have a barn that is 8x12 ft or 96 sq ft total. We started out last year with 12 laying hens, 50+ meat birds, and 6 ducks. over the summer 2 of the laying hens went missing, one of the meat birds never grew and the ducks quacked. Te have 11 chickens and 6 ducks currently.

Earlier this year we decided to order 15 turkeys, 5sq ft each = 75 sq ft - they will fit in the barn right?

Then he bought me an incubator for my birthday!
Now we are hatching out potentially 28 ducks with this hatch-a-long = is that 84 sq ft (3sq ft each)
I'm also hatching potentially 12 chickens = 24 sq ft (2 sq ft each)

After this hatch I have another 24 chickens in mind to hatch = 48sq ft
and we are getting more meat birds this year (50) = 100sq ft

They all free range during the day on 5 acres, the SO thinks we are going to have a problem with barn space - I don't see it! do any of you? hehe
Easy peasy - tell him to build another barn.
Look at this little cutie I had hatch last night. My first duckling of the year, and I am in love with this little one.

Now if only momma and her friends would lay some more eggs I'd be really happy.

Awwww, what a cutie!

Well, I haven't candled my easter hatch yet, but I plan to do it tonight. Despite the small air cells, I did hatch 46 Iowa Blues out of 48 locked down. They were very big babies and I did help out the last 6 or 7. They were ready to go, just couldn't turn around to finish the zip. The two that didn't hatch never pipped internally at all. All are happy and bouncing around the baby tank, ready to move into my brand new brooders tonight! Guess I'll take a stab at feather sexing and see how that works out.

Sorry, I had to do the same thing to, my first Barred Lavender OE project, He had a peacomb and a bearded. I don't know what happened, I went to feed the young birds and there he was in the splits and all the other birds are walking all over him like he's part of the ground. I put him alone and watch over night, Didn't work he looked like he was in pain. So my BF culled him yesterday.

I am soooo sorry.
