I haven't been on BYC in a few days. Hope I haven't missed much.

Here is the reason I've been so distracted.

My one doe had twins and this one was nearly frozen to death. She is being raised in the house. I tried to put her back with her mom and sister after she warmed up and started eating, but the adult goats started to push her around. Hopefully I can get her back with the herd over the next few days. I really don't want to continue to keep a goat in my house.

Here is a picture of her sister, who is living with their mom.

Adorable! Glad you brought your baby around. Hope you can get them to be nice! I don't know goats too well, but it almost sounds like what happens with new chickens around the old flock.

You all are going to make me wolf down Friendly's and rush my kids through Toys R Us, aren't you? I've been promising them for 5 days now. Oh well, heartburn here I come!
when?
Sally, that's a pretty fuzzy butt right there on that gal. Love the color of her!

Quote: i will be there. what time does this contest start? :D
I am thinking about this, what is the time zone dif from eastern to CA? How about 8pm to 11pm EASTERN time?
well i am in MO, which is in central time? im so bad at the different time zones. how far ahead/behind is ca from mo?
LOL I am too lazy to do a search

I'll ask the hubby tonight if there's a way to get rid of it. We've also been getting calls to our cell phones from D.C. WTH??? We're in Ontario & getting telemarketers from the U.S. harassing us??? We never answer them, but I did a reverse lookup & found out this company is calling lots of Ontario cell #s. Sheesh! (202) 407-3261 is the # to avoid!

There are several numbers in DC blocked on my cell phone. They call and say they are 'Card Services' and I need to hurry and press 1 to lower my interest rate...what a crock!!

Well, took out 3 more eggs today and I'm positive one RIR is a quitter, but just in case it WERE possible I left it in there because that egg just looked odd.
ALL others have movement, I was nervous on some but I began talking to each egg and wouldn't you know it they would move lol Probably wanting me to shut up! Anyway wonderful air cells and I'm now down to 22eggs.

10HRIR
12 Silkie (5white, 4 Buff, 2 Blue, & 1 Partridge)

So 22 out of 33 eggs developing nicely thus far is great! Keeping my fingers crossed for hatch day, just 6days away!
The eggs I took out I'm going to snap some pics and see if you can tell me what happened, one looks like it hasn't been dead a really long time and the others I'm not really sure either.

Oh and just wanted to say thank you so much to those that have wrote about dry hatching on here, so far it has gone so well. I just hope I can get the humidity to stay up enough. I read yesterday I think it was delisha? that said she wouldn't up the humidity until the first pip? Now I'm all confused lol Do you up it to 60-65% at the beginning of lock down or? Things have gone wonderful so far, I hate to mess it up!

I have a dry hatching Incubation Cheat Sheet in my signature, and there are suggestions on there about ways to raise humidity.

I don't do anything for humidity until the first pip, and then I bump it up, but I don't use a hygrometer to measure it, I just steam it up in there and then wait. The chicks get it pretty humid as they hatch. When there's a fan, it is dicier as they can get glued in, so making sure there's good moisture is more important than in a still air, where there's more forgiveness.

Candled my eggs last night, and pulled out one quitter. So minus that egg and the infertile one I pulled out awhile ago, I still have 10/12 going. And my goose's eggs are finally fertile, so I will have goslings a few weeks after Easter hopefully!

And my frizzle serama started laying yesterday, so if she lays another egg today I'm setting them with the rest of the serama eggs I've collected tonight. Now if only my ducks would start laying again I'd be happy. It's snowing again, so with this crazy weather I doubt it though.
