I keep trying to catch pictures of chicks on their mommas' backs. I think that's almost as adorable as the little chicky heads peaking out from within her feathers.

Like this? My first broody 2 years ago.

I need some advice. Since today is day 14 it seems that many eggs can be sorted out? How can you tell if an egg is a quitter? I was able to easily determine the clear eggs even in the darker shells. I have seem movement in some but I have also read that the chick may not be moving. So how do you determine if a viable egg has died? Jill

usually the veining will diminish and or you will have a blood ring.... go to the gallery of images on here, I think someone posted a bunch of pics of bad eggs.

Just candled here on day 14. I'm down another quitter. Have 13 eggs left out of 20. My air cells haven't decreased enough, so I'm going to let the humidity drop some. Great idea to mark those air cells!
