I now have three pips!!!!

Two white silkie eggs and one buff silkie egg. Official hatch day is tomorrow. I have 6 more silkie eggs: 2 white and 4 buff. Also, no action yet from my 6 BBS Orps. Then again, we are early. Heard cheeping from about 5 p.m.. Been trying to get on and catch up, but husbands been on a business trip all week and been driving the four kids around to all their stuff it's been tough. Not to mention the thread is growing at tremendous speed.

Plus ogling eggs. At lockdown I popped in 8 Super Blues from DMRippy in silverware baskets. Since they are in with the silkies, I figured they wouldn't be able to get in the baskets. Will switch them to the Brinsea when it has vacancies. Hoping we wake up to a whole mess of chickies!

Wow, baby pictures..and pips! Congrats everyone that has hatched, and has the pips.

Oh Oh! A second pip, and look how far down it is from the air sac! The first pip is still
the same. Nice size now.

Check out the egg at the bottom..it is the one that I showed candled. You can see
the pencil line going up the side..right side. Waaay up the side. :(

I have one egg pipped and I can hear tapping and cheeping coming from the incubator...it's only day 19 though! I hope that doesn't mean I had my temps too high or my humidity wrong. I bought a new reptile unit that came highly recommended for accuracy and good hatch rates but did not calibrate it.

Update on the egg with the crack. It now has a pip in it above where the crack is. It must have been a stress fracture when the chick pipped internally or a weak spot in the shell.

I have one poult out and 7 or 8 more pips (I set my turkey eggs 2 days early). Nothing from the tutors yet, I set them one day early so hopefully I'll see something when I check tomorrow morning.

NewChick hereafter referred to as "NC," is sound sleep in a fold of the heated throw across my lap. A Beanie Baby rooster binky was not sufficient to make it feel "not alone" in its cage brooder.

On the other side of the fold in the throw, Lizbeth (cat, for those not hanging onto every word about my pets' lives) is stretched across my lap. Before falling asleep, NC pecked Lizbeth's nose when the latter sniffed the former.

I got the cutest picture but I will have to upload and post it later.

For what I think is an obvious reason.
