If you feel more comfortable then candle and tap them and listen, if they have an internal pip, you can make an external breathing hole, I think its early yet, but only you know for sure how your hatch went and what you feel is going on in there. I use the tiny drill bit and make the hole close to the beak I see during candle, AVOIDING INNER MEMBRANES, I don't actually drill mind you! I score an x and then twist it in the center of it....

if you read the assist article you know how difficult it is to judge when a chick needs help, AS long as you don't touch the inner membranes your ok!
Thanks Sally!

Love broodies!

I would leave it be. Eggs are porous, so it's probably resting and absorbing the yolk sac. No need to worry yet.
Thank you Happy Chooks! That makes me feel a bit better. I will try and wait a while longer before panicking...

Ok, starting to worry about one that zipped only halfway around. Keeps pushing up & not getting out. Membrane starting to brown. Should I assist & how exactly? Been like this for about an hour.

Go have some coffee. Sometimes they still need to sit and rest up after all that work zipping....

Edited to add: Good job getting the stuck chick out.

Bad day...bad day... but not with the eggs (atleast I hope...havent checked on them again)
My two boys at home 15 & 17 had a childhood friend (17) get killed tonight in a car accident. He wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. The driver one of his friends was driving recklessly. The father of Hunter (the one that passed) died several years ago and mom has had a tough time as she is blind. She relied on hunter for everthing...groceries, get to work etc. This has been a devestating evening, but... I post so you go hug your love ones, life is too fragile not to shower your loved ones with affection, and lecture lecture lecture your teenage drivers about reckless driving and wearing their seat belts. Please God take me before I ever lose a child.
Bears repeating. I was living with a neighbor when the son's best friend was hit on his motorcycle by a car in the passing lane. Just tragic. Everyone knew everyone involved. The community church was packed, standing room only. I've never fogotten almost 30 years later. I have two boys and pray everyday that God will keep watch and protect them when I cannot be there to help them make wise choices. I'm sorry your boys lost their friend--they will never forget him

I have PIPS - 2 of my duck eggs have pipped 2 days early, and I also have 3 Frizzles pipped too!
Whoot!!!

Just wanted to drop in and say Good Morning. I have pips on my D'Uccle eggs nothing on shipped eggs. Cheeping from cabinet incubator. Hoping to have chicks when I come home from work. Found a cool chart on humidity, well the BF did, thought I would share.

BLARNEY ~ Not sure if anyone has answered this yet..it's probably normal. I have plenty that start out doing the what I like to call, the Paddle walk. I think it's cute.

not sure if you can tell, the chick is completely bent in half with legs stretched out straight in front.

Yep, I was behind, didn't see this picture. Yes, let it just go on it's own. It will start standing on it's own today. Paddle Walk.

Isn't she a little doll?? My friend already came and picked her up. Since this little one was all alone, she stopped by L&M (our local version of TSC) and bought 2 Black Australorp chicks so she has some friends...
