OK need a little help! Hatch Day was yesterday they started on Friday...... We have 8 out of 36 out and a few were popping out before I left for work today. There is a weird odder coming from my incubator?????? I do not know if it is from the old eggs of if the eggs that have not hatched yet are starting to rot! That and how long do you let them go before throwing them out???? Please need HELP!

I ended up breaking open the eggs that had died/not hatched and I found that 3 had almost fully developed but died at day 17 or 18 and then the other 2 died about day 7 or 8. SO my hatch rate is 9 out of 20 eggs. (Shipped) so 45% not bad for a first time and a shipped egg batch

Anyone else have a better hatch??

I had the same think happen to me, I believe it is from the chicks that have hatched that might poop in the bator or from leftover gunk from the hatched eggs. But it shouldn't be coming from the un-hatched eggs, so you don't have to worry about them rotting yet. Usually give them to day 25-26 before you throw them out. Hopefully that helped

Smell each one and GENTLY remove those that smell bad. They are dead, sorry. If you don't remove them they may explode, which is not good for the bator not to mention the smell of the rest of your home...

I was going to give my final count too, but I heard some peeping in some of the remaining eggs. I candled the remaining 9 eggs that had not hatched yet last night, & saw movement in 3 of them, so I'm going to leave them in & hope for the best. Mine were due to hatch yesterday, so today is Day 22 for me. So far I have had 27 hatch out of my 42 set. 36 went into lock down. Had to do one assist late last night, or was it this morning? Dunno, I've been awake since Saturday! LOL The assisted chick looks like I might have to treat for splayed leg? I am so happy I did not throw them out like I did my first hatch earlier this month! My ducks are hatching like popcorn this morning, lots of pips and 2 popped out in the last 1/2 hour, more on the way! So exciting to see them hatching out of their shells (even if it is just through videos since I am stuck at work today). 2 are pipped on the small end - still waiting on them to make some progress, but its encouraging to see the others hatching!

okay, well we are done here....
I set 15 eggs.... had many clears (young roos ) 5 went into lock down...3 hatched.... (one looked like he pipped into a vein, the other.... internally pipped but didn't get to the external and the family decided to give him an air hole (we heard him cheeping yesterday) but we were too late. So... just 3 from this hatchalong (did find out my little silkie roo is getting in on the hen action! one of the babies has a fifth two and looks like a walnutish comb)
