Almost 1500 posts. uuuummmmmmm I'm not even going to try. I had to lock down late. Hope I didn't screw up, but there was a good reason. To tired to type out what made it or looked like it made it, or was to hard to see if it made it. We had a hatch on Sunday. His name is Dominick. I have more grandkids than the average person, but I sure get excited when I get a new one. My good reason...LOL
Aw, congratulations :jumpy :weee Babies of all kinds showing up! This is so much fun! :weee

Some just hatch early, some just hatch late. Generally, early hatchers are healthier than late hatchers. If you have a bunch early or late it's probably the temp. If its just a few you could check for hot or cold spots in the incubator, but it could very well just be normal.

What do you generally do with those early ones? If I have no other ext pips, should I grab them and get them out now? The one who hatched last night was caught between teh egg carton and the side of the incubator so it's leg is sort of spraddled looking...I'd like to get it out and help it if needed, but do not want to compromise the other 30 eggs by doing that....(i opened it this am just enough to slide a table knife in to push the carton away further + added water then too.)

LOL..you shaved all of that hair off?   Need new avatar, yep, new avatar!

What I do? I kick myself for not setting up a brooder in the last few weeks to be ready for the chicks. To get her out I would moisten a paper towel with hot water, lift the lid as little as possible, toss the towel in, and grab chick, close lid. First I look for any others zipping. Sally Sunshine mentioned taking a wet towel and wiping the inside lid or misting with warm water. My wife would also help me, I'm the lid lifter she is the chick grabber.

Got serious cheeping from the hatcher tonight. They're a bit early, was expecting them to start tomorrow, but they're on their own time schedule methinks.

Gotta get the boys out of the tub. They're washing off their Darth Maul faces from today. They just had to have face paint today, very necessary. LOL

(He insisted on blue eyes and white horns as a variant from normal.)
AWESOMENESS!!!

lots of dramas overnight!

its great to hear chicks are hatching.

remember to read Sally's hatching 101 article one more time, especially for those wierd things that happen.

if you still have questions ask here.

its better than pm-ing as others may have the same issue and the answer could be shared

there are also more people here to help than pm-ing just one person

fingers crossed for all of you

This is going in the Incubator tonight for the Cinco de Mayo HAL

And this is what I got out of this HAL! So adorable!
That's a lot of eggs YAY! and very cute chicks!

Wow, Ok so I finally got the pics uploaded.. Hope you guys like them. If you remember, I had a hatch right before the HAL started. These are some of the chicks from earlier to today..

Had to do something with chicks... I'm going nuts waiting for these to hatch.. lol

Very cute! And lucky you with all the girls. Ive been hatching since the NYDH and so far every single hatch I have done is roughly 80% roosters. I currently have 30-35 roosters in my brooders and only 7 known pullets

I also have about 12 im unsure of gender yet but im sure they will be boys too. It seems to be my luck this year.
