Yep- same thing here with regards to egg size and zipping speed! Where did you get your SS eggs?

I ordered a random assortment from My Pet Chicken to throw in with my own eggs. SS is one of the breeds they sent.

ahhh, mine were from an Ebay seller/breeder in Louisiana. Maybe it's a breed trait?

That's what I'm thinking too. My Marans always hatch so slow...and late!

One of the eggs is chirping back to my SS chick, but I can't figure out which one. No more pips yet.

I have 2 more pips this morning!! So 3 total. My Marans pip is LOW... all of my Marans had deep air cells. I hope it will hatch ok.

Is it a bad idea to carefully move the bator to my kitchen?? It's in my bedroom on my dresser... it would be unplugged maybe 1min total - if that. The pip from last night (started maybe around 10pm) has expanded left and right a little... hard to tell in the picture (top left)

Edit to add: My humidity is 63/64%.... I could add water through a tube on the top if absolutely needed??? Should I or will the humidity rise once they start opening more and then it will be okay?

What breeds does this work on? Isn't it only certain ones? I'd love to know this too!
