When I hatched that W Am, in 2011 as part of the Easter Hatchalong, I knew the chick would be light but was surprised by the lack of other color on it. The change from yellow chick to wheaten adult is fun to watch....of course the pullet change is not as dramatic as the cockerels. Good luck with the rest of your hatch!

Well my temps were high this morning so I quickly candled and they are all alive but there is still A LOT of space in the shell. Like they are days behind where they should be. My other eggs hatched a day early but these seem set to hatch 2+ days late. They are due on Monday.

On another note my cat was crying this morning like he had to go out so I got up and let him out. Or rather put him out since it's raining. Well I then stepped in something wet and cold and heard something in the kitchen eating the cat's food and drinking his water. We don't have any other pets. So I carefully went in there and found Luke, Sasha, and Darkwing in there eating his food and playing in his water. They had escaped their box. The cat was crying to tell on them. In shocked that he didn't hurt them. He's constantly stalking my chickens.

Ducks in charge!

I only have one duck, but he tells the 6 dogs what they can or can not do. He herds the Dachshunds and he lets the Dobermans drink out of the water dish as long as he can play with their ears.
This all may change once he has his own duck flock, but for now the dogs are his flock. My cats are scared to death of almost all birds. Your ducks may teach your cat to think twice about messing with birds.

to kill time..my day 21 on the next phase of my staggered hatch starts at 8pm my son, 3 yr old daughter, and I went to a small animal swap meet this morning looking for a Rabbit...somehow 2 pair of columbian wyandotte banties (grown) and 4 Lav orp chicks, 6 silver partridge silkies chicks , and 3 bantam Cochin chicks.. came home with us..and a used bass type rabbit cage for $20 to hold the grown birds..
