Thank you SO much for the link about hatching emus. This is my first time doing it, and I can use all the help I can get. Right now My incubator is about 96.8 degrees with 36 percent humidity. The eggs have been losing 10-20 grams of weight a week.OH My you have your work set out for you!
This egg shell statement on the incubating suggestion scares me! I would be a fanatic weigher of eggs with them! WOW
Incubator temperature between 96.8 degrees and 97.5 degrees (97 preferred)
Incubator humidity between 27% and 34% (with 30% preferred)
Some egg shells are thicker than others thus requiring different amounts of humidity for optimum hatching rates. Very
few eggs loose the same amount of weight each week. On average they should loose around 2% of original weight
per week. Often a egg will loose 3% one week and 1% the next. We’ve hatched viable chicks from 12.5% to 17%
over all weight loss.
here is the link if anyone else is nosey like me http://ftp.aea-emu.org/sites/aea-emu.org/files/Hatching and Incubating - 2012.pdf

I'm going to sound stupid right now, but can you candle an egg that dark? If not then how would you be able to tell if the egg has an embryo growing in it? Or, do ya just wait and see?? This is very interesting, lol!
And THAT was the first egg, (which was the smallest!!! lol). I have to post a pic of the egg saved for the hatch-along! It's REALLY BIGThat is a massive egg!!! I've got to show DH. He'll want me to start keeping emus and make me get rid of my bantam. lol
I know it's impossible to candle them. But there are wiggle and knocking checks you can do later in the development. But it's mostly a waiting game....pretty darn painful lol.I'm going to sound stupid right now, but can you candle an egg that dark? Just enormous. I put my chicken's eggs in the pocket of my hoodie in the evenings. I'd have to bring out a laundry basket to collect those eggs!!!
