This will be my first hatch ever this year, and I'm doing it with the Easter Hatch-a-Long. I'm very excited, I've got my brooder and am getting everything set up and tested. I have been burying myself in reading, and think I am going to stand a good chance of hatching some eggs. I am using a Styrofoam incubator with egg turner and forced air fan. I'm double and triple checking my heat and humidity with several different measuring devices. I'm getting after it!!

I am hatching chickens from my flock, which is a year old. The rooster is a Welsummer, and I have a whole variety of hens (you can see them in my signature line). I'm most excited to get some offspring from my Light Brahmas. I've read that I will get a Buff Columbian with that cross, and that seems pretty cool to me.

Anyway, awesome to do a hatch-a-long, I'm very excited and counting the days until I will set my eggs!!!

When I first started out with chickens, I would throw the eggs in my neighbors field. My explanation...I had too many. Lol. I didn't realize how many people would want them.

I have not done that...

I have people ask for eggs all the time, since I live in the North, and my girls are so unpredictable I am always afraid to tell people they can buy eggs and then to have none. Production is up this Spring and I have 17 layers, perhaps it is time to sell some eggs.

I think I should look for a paper route too.

What does everyone else sell their extra eggs for? Around here the stores have them for about $3.00/dz.
