Omg! I am hopelessly behind. There are like 50 more pages to read since I last was here.
I'm sorry to say I'm dropping out of the hatch-a-long. I had 2 mysterious deaths & several birds come down sick. I sent the dead ones to USC San Bernardino for necropsy & isolated the sick. Treating the whole flock with tetracycline as a precaution. Sick birds are getting Tylan. I feel awful.

So sorry. Really sounds scary. Good luck with everything. Hope they can figure it out for you!

This will be my first hatch ever this year, and I'm doing it with the Easter Hatch-a-Long. I'm very excited, I've got my brooder and am getting everything set up and tested. I have been burying myself in reading, and think I am going to stand a good chance of hatching some eggs. I am using a Styrofoam incubator with egg turner and forced air fan. I'm double and triple checking my heat and humidity with several different measuring devices. I'm getting after it!!

I am hatching chickens from my flock, which is a year old. The rooster is a Welsummer, and I have a whole variety of hens (you can see them in my signature line). I'm most excited to get some offspring from my Light Brahmas. I've read that I will get a Buff Columbian with that cross, and that seems pretty cool to me.

Anyway, awesome to do a hatch-a-long, I'm very excited and counting the days until I will set my eggs!!!

Here are some pictures of my dude and some of the Brahmas I hope to get eggs from:

Woohoo!!

I only sell my eggs for $1.50! To a neighbor friend. Wow, you guys are getting that much? 4 dollars?

Mike, those goats are adorable! What a neat thing to wake up to. Wish I had the land, I would have goats for sure. And, more chickens.

Welcome!

You will sort of get buff columbian from a welsummer over light brahma. I hatched one and she was buff columbian (for the same reason), but sadly, she got out of the run and a predator got her. And my light brahma hasn't been laying. (She's 5 years old) This was her, in the center.

Wow, she's beautiful!! I really hope I can get a couple hens that look even half that nice! So awesome! Now I'm even more excited!

@tommysgirl and @Sally Sunshine
My cats name is turtle and when she was young and super skinny her nickname was turtlefat. Now she is old and has finally grown into her nickname :)

How precious!

He is a Brabanter/Spitzhauben Cross. Truly the best roo ever! Personable, good with children, curious, and medium sized (he doesn't tear up the hens)

Handsome fellow.

The participant list is caught up to post 2203. If I missed you, let me know.

Just bought turkey eggs and the seller was more than happy to wait to ship until a few days before the set date for turkeys! yay. I haven't hatched turkeys yet so I am pretty excited. it is a mix of free range Heritage Blue Slate, Bourbon Red, and Narragansett so they should be cute little mixes! is there anything i should do different for turkey eggs vs chicken eggs?

Are these yours? Beautiful. Mine are getting darker, they are Heritage..so, crossing fingers I get a couple of dark ones..one being the cockerel. The pullet is looking pretty good so far, not sure they will get this dark though. :) I have some RB's I can breed that roo to some day..not as many barrs on the hatchilings, but oh well.
Yes!

They are a lot older and bigger now. One of the Roosters may be in a show at the end of March.

They are Fogel HRIRs and his Reds have been winning a lot of ribbons lately.

I don't do anything differently for my chicken eggs vs turkeys eggs. Everything is the same only 7 days longer.
