OMG, I'm guilty of that. Had no idea about the 6 foot drop.

I saw a video of that once, can't find it now, I looked a few months ago, maybe I can find it now. Will have to look..then folks will understand why people can't be held liable on how their eggs arrive. Some of the people that sell eggs are great to work with, whether you ask them or not. I just recently let a person know that I had two broken eggs..just letting him know, didn't expect anything..especially him going and returning 10 dollars on my paypal, just for two broken eggs! First time that has happened.

This is what they do at a USPS Center. It does not show the Airborne exchange.

Did you see the way they drop the package out of the dump bin? That happens 4 times at least with an Air shipped package.

I am happy that many of us on here will take the time to pack correctly!
THIS IS IT!!! Crazy..

Whelp, looks like my egg plans for the hatch-a-long aren't working out, but I will have EEs to set for it regardless.

I may have just splurged on some really awesome eggs shipping out next week though...so there is that :)

I think I need to build a bigger brooder.

This is the HARDEST thread to keep up on! And we're still 2 weeks away from setting!!! Hahaha! All the info on shipped eggs is very interesting!

So I'm thinking of hatching out Rhode Island Reds this hatch. I know that they are very popular and are supposed laying machines. I also get the sense that they are big-meanies in the flock. Is this true? Any input on the matter? I am reluctant to bring in big-meanies... we already had one and are still recovering from the damage she did! :)
I have 3 RIR - probably production reds - all 3 lay an egg almost every day, but they are definitely snots to all the other girls. I have 6 EE hens, very sweet, not as good layers. Have watched the reds peck at them until the move out of the nest they want, or move from the food or whatever. They are also my Roo's favorite, so they get to stay for now.

All of the RIR's I've had have been sweethearts! And I've had many. I now actually have a cockerel out there, three months old..so far, he's a sweetheart too, will already come up to me..not all the way, but close to see if I have any treats. They can be offish, until they start to lay, not sure what it is about that, but they really get friendly. Here is a photo of one looking into my back door window..along with another so called meanie, leghorn. They are sweet too!
